Name- Redwing
Age- 36 stars
Previous Names- Redkit --> Redpaw --> Redwing
Gender- Female
Clan- MoonClan
Rank- Medicine Cat
Extra- Redwing has just been thrust into the rank of medicine cat after the sudden death of the senior one. Sorry if she kills a couple cats during the learning process! |D
Appearance- Her face is somewhat shorter than other cats, though it’s not by any extremely notable decree. She as almost no muscle behind her, making her seem somewhat scrawny and abused and rather small for her age as well. She really does not have the physique to be a warrior, which is what drove her to the path of medicine cat.
Her fur is short and always kept in a pristinely well-groomed condition. White covers her jowls, extending up her face in an upside down v and also covering her chest and belly. It paints all four of her paws as well, only significantly covering her left hind paw. The base color of her coat is a creamy orange marmalade color. Offsetting those are burnt sienna stripes of great width; two cover her shoulders in wing-like shapes. She has a crest of feathers running down the back of her head and ending just before her shoulder blades. They are the same marmalade color as her coat, and tipped in burnt sienna. These feathers are mobile, and will flatten and elevate based on her mood. Her eyes are a very pretty shade of light blue.
Personality- Redwing is submissive in almost everything about her. While not exactly a coward, she shys from the responsibility of decision-making and harsher lifestyle of a warrior. She was picked on as a kit - the runt of the litter - and it did not let up when she was made an apprentice. Quiet and shy, it is rare to hear more than two words out of this she-cat’s mouth in one sitting. At a gathering, she's the female staring at the all-too-interesting 'insects' crawling through the grass and making eye-contact with no one. Even when Redwing speaks to other members of her Clan, she will almost never look them in the eye. She puts the blame upon herself for everything that might go wrong, whether the she-cat was directly involved or not. If a gust of wind swept away a portion of the nursery wall, she'd blame herself for not paying enough attention when she was in there a star ago. Redwing second-guesses herself as well, often becoming indecisive and nervous. The only thing she feels confident in doing is her medicine work. She knows each herb like the back of her paw and exactly what they're used for.
When asked if she misses toms or the ability to fall in love, Redwing will blush a brighter red than her coat and look away. She truly, honestly believes that no tom in his right mind would ever, ever pick her over any other she-cat on this planet. She's very content knowing he serves his Clan with his mind and herbs.
History- Redkit was, sadly, the only kit in his parents last litter. Before, they'd had three or occasionally four in each litter. They were surprised at how small this one was, but it didn't stop them from loving their daughter. She was, admissibly, a little spoiled and doted upon. Redkit received all of her parent's love and was treated as the baby of their family.
The only cat in her life that did not treat her with any sort of love or respect was her older brother. Cardinalfeather was always sort of rough and abrassive, but he took everything out on his sister. In truth, he was jealous of the affection she received from their parents. For the longest time, he'd been the baby and basked in the attention they gave him. When Redkit came along, he tried to do everything in his power to push her aside and outclass her achievements. He did not stop when she became an apprentice, and he still continues to look down on her.
Redpaw was apprenticed to a warrior for a short while. She was terrible at it. The she-cat was too afraid to charge at her mentor during practice battles, and couldn't seem to learn how to stalk prey. And with her brother's teasing, she felt certain that she was doomed to fail as a warrior. Shortly after she was apprenticed, however, the sign came.
The previous Medicine Cat, Lilyfoot, awoke one morning to a flurry of red feathers as a flock of red birds started from the entrance of her den. At the time, Cardinalpaw was already set to become a warrior, so Lilyfoot offered to take his sister under her wing. Redpaw wasn't a useful warrior apprentice, so maybe she'd make a better Medicine Cat. Redpaw took an extreme liking to the Medicine Cat work. She was good with plants and was happy that she could serve her Clanmates in that way.
Everything in her life came to a screeching halt when her mentor died. It wasn't anything that could have been prevented or foreshadowed. Rain and wind made the branches of the Moon Trees slick, and she simply lost her footing. The whole Clan was devestated, but none more so than Redwing. Now that she has suddenly been thrusted into the role of full Medicine Cat, she's lost some of her hard-earned confidence. She's okay with the herbs and healing her Clanmates, but she has no idea how to get connected with StardustClan.
